Only secondary sources? There are a host of people in Grenada and more than a few in Barbados who will need to be interviewed, as well as several Research papers at the UWI, Cave Hill, which will need to be perused. Exactly who are Ben Glas and where are they from?

      Mr. Maugan,
I understand your concern, especially in light of the fact that I’m working on my own oral history based research on memory, historical consciousness and the revolution.

Take a look at the PDF document towards the end of the post above. You will find more details, including the research assistant’s responsibility to assist in contacting primary research respondents. Ms. Kadon Douglas is our contact person for Benglas. If you have any more questions, she will be able to give you more details.

Thank you for initiating a discussion on this. Also, if you know of anyone else working on research in Grenadian/Caribbean Radical history please let us know.

Thanks for your prompt reply. You referred to Grenada/Caribbean radical history. As you used “Caribbean” and not “West Indian”, I take it that the scope of this study is very much broader than it appears at first. Do you intend to take it into the Spanish Caribbean and perhaps into Central America ( e.g. Nicaragua)?

Thank you so much for posting this Malaika! We found two brilliant interns, and have enjoyed working with them. I know it’s 6 months later bu to Mr Maugan’s question, this project is about the life of Maurice Bishop. If there is crucial information about his life in the Spanish-Caribbean we will gather it.

We are also doing extensive study on collective memory, trauma and legacy; and advocating for the (increased) inclusion of Grenadian history in secondary classrooms.

You are very welcome! Keep us posted on your progress. Maybe your interns would like to do a feature/video here on their experience as interns/research assistants on this incredibly complex and intriguing topic. We would love that.
