Artist Statement for, Conversation Piece #1,  which I made for this show. To see the work behind the words go check out the exhibit!

This piece grows out of my ongoing postgraduate research , which is an exploration of questions of memory and the Revolution and subsequent U.S. military action. The text used comes from interviews I conducted with people who were in Grenada during the period of 1979 to 1983.

The creation of this work was a participatory process. It is my intention for the viewers to be engaged in a similar spirit… to break the accepted codes of gallery conduct and touch this piece in order to uncover the stories that go beyond and add complexity to the tragic unravelling of the Revolution. Made from recycled paper, this piece will necessarily change and become worn over time leaving evidence of your investigation, adding a small trace of you to the conversation.
